Once a year, I have the pleasure of taking part in what we call the Riverside Jam. Essentially, the Riverside Jam is a group of friends (and friends of friends) who gather together for a weekend of music-making and merriment. It’s been going on since the year 2000 and if you’d like to hear about the very first one, you can read that story here.
This year, the event was held during the last weekend of July and hosted by Kathy and John Reichert (Kathy, as some of you may know, is a former student of mine as well as a good friend), along with their friends Max and Michael Lescher. In attendance for 2008:
Karen Berger – keyboards
Helena Bouchez – bass
Derek Kolecki – drums
Dan Lasley – bass
Laura Lasley – vocals, guitar
Max Lescher – vocals
Michael Lescher – vocals, keyboards, guitar
Paul McKenna – vocals, guitar
Greg Nease – guitar
Tony Nuccio – vocals, guitar
Anne O’Neil – drums, percussion, vocals
John Reichert – bass
Kathy Reichert – vocals, guitar
Mike Roberto – guitar
Nick Torres – vocals, guitar
Jose Velez – vocals, guitar
When I say “in attendance,” I mean that these folks were there for the main part of the weekend and performed at the “big show” on Saturday night at Jimmy V’s in Ingleside, Illinois. More on that in a moment.
For now, though, if you’d like to see some photos of the event, John Reichert has graciously posted up almost every shot he took and you can find those on this page. Hope you enjoy them.
As mentioned, we played a big show Saturday night and, thanks to Nick and (especially and always a big thanks) to Chuck, we’ve got some video to share. Here, for your entertainment are:
Alison (Note my looking at my guitar during the first verse. Broke the G string during the introduction and played on without it)
No Reflection on You (one of Kathy’s songs)
Supernova (Parental advisory on lyrics – and on botching the lyrics!)
Anyway, I wanted to get the particulars written out before things get too crazy. I’ll be writing a lot more about this gig and the performers, not to mention more about other gigs as well in the near future.
Thanks, as always, for listening.
Peace
